Digital products montage

The British Geological Survey produce a wide range of digital products.

The datasets available have typically been developed on a national scale and range from the core geological data family (DiGMapGB) to offshore bathymetric data and ground stability datasets (GeoSure). Data are typically available under licence, however an increasing number are available for view or download in OpenGeoscience.

The following pages describe the data available, outline the basic cost of a licence (where appropriate) or provide links to download/view the data. In many cases there are also links to downloadable samples of the data and user guides.

Derived from the master GeoSure dataset, designed for the insurance industry.

1:50 000 scale gas emission susceptibility data.
Mining Hazard (not including coal)
GB - wide potential for non-coal mining hazard. Hazard ratings based on a series of geological factors.

The definitive map of Radon Affected Areas in Great Britain, created jointly by the Health Protection Agency and the BGS.
