The BGS Science Advisory Committee (SAC) was recruited under the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that the BGS signed with NERC following the creation of the BGS Board.
Following an open competition in 2018, the composition of the SAC is:
- Prof Frances Wall (committee chair): professor of applied mineralogy, Camborne School of Mines
- Dr Patrick Bermingham: former exploration chief geophysicist, Shell International
- Dr Liz Fellman: director of strategy, planning and communications, Science and Technologies Facilities Council
- Prof Stephen de Mora: independent environmental consultant
- Prof Cherry Tweed: Independent consultant
