From space weather and geothermal energy to hazard risk assessment and monitoring, scientists from all disciplines of the British Geological Survey (BGS) will be presenting their work and sharing ideas at one of the biggest conferences in geoscience research this week.
The EGU General Assembly 2022 brings together geoscientists from all over the world for one meeting from 23 to 27 May. The event takes place in Vienna, Austria, and will once again provide an on-site experience for those attending in-person and, as much as possible, will include virtual attendees simultaneously.
Covering all disciplines of the earth, planetary and space sciences, the EGU General Assembly provides an important forum for BGS scientists to communicate their research and discuss ideas with other experts in all fields of geoscience, through presentations and face-to-face meetings. In previous years, more than 16 000 presentations have been delivered at the event.
Helen Glaves, BGS Senior Data Scientist, became president of EGU in 2021, having been involved with the union for many years, and will facilitate sessions addressing the inclusivity and diversity of the geoscience community at this year’s assembly.
