The BGS Digital Lab has been created to develop, test and provide new tools and technologies that support delivery of the BGS science strategy enabling world class research across BGS.
The BGS Engineering and Geotechnical Capability leads the development and application of field and laboratory infrastructure and long-term management of geophysical and geotechnical property data.
Our current activities build on the BGS’s extensive research experience in this region, contributing to welfare and future economic growth by the responsible use of natural resources.
Our research focuses on characterising complex, multi-hazard processes with the aim of improving resilience of communities to hazards.
Increasing human populations, changing climates and the intensification in the use of our soils means that we are in danger of losing or causing irreversible damage to a resource that takes thousands of years to produce.
