BGS is growing and we are currently recruiting geologists and geoscientists to support the delivery of our new strategy. We will offer support and plenty of opportunities to develop your skills and work with experts that are undertaking geological research with impact for the national public good.
Roles will be based in Keyworth, near Nottingham, or in Edinburgh, on the Heriot-Watt University campus.

Geoscientists (Band C)
These roles will support project delivery across BGS, contributing field data, laboratory work, data management and analysis, and working flexibly across a range of projects. Suited to applicants with a range of geoscience knowledge, skills and experience.

Geoscientists (Band D)
These roles will apply specialist scientific and technical skills to develop projects for BGS, contributing to funding applications, publications and presentations. There is also scope for management of work packages as well as supervision of students and colleagues. Suited to applicants with a range of geoscience knowledge, skills and experience.

Survey geologists (Band C)
We are recruiting geologists to help revise our geological map of the UK. These roles will be part of a new programme of work and will involve a significant component of fieldwork, contributing to new UK maps and models. This role is well suited to early-career geologists.

These roles are well suited to early-career geologists, keen to contribute towards and lead field-based geological mapping. The roles will be part of a new programme of work to develop new UK maps and models and will include responsibility for managing relevant tasks and activities.
