Matt Harrison

Matt leads the informatics team, managing the wealth of geoscience data, information and other materials for the long-term benefit of the UK. Informatics focuses on curation and making data widely available, integrating with new technologies for its collection and assimilation.

Matt's past research has focused on the application of international spatial information best practice mainly in the natural hazards and marine areas, leading the BGS GeoSure project and chairing the Natural Risk Zones working group drafting the EU INSPIRE Directive. Matt's recent roles include co-chairing the UK Government Natural Hazards Partnership.
