BGS GeoSchool offers a wide-ranging programme of both field and classroom-based professional development training courses.
BGS scientists visited north-east Japan to study the area devastated by the tsunami caused by the Great Tohoku earthquake of 11 March 2011.
Applications range from mineral exploration and waste management, to monitoring active processes within the subsurface, such as the movement of pollutants, or the flow of groundwater in unstable slopes affecting infrastructure.
