The project ‘Climate change in the Arctic–North Atlantic region and Impacts on the UK’ (CANARI) takes an overview of the Arctic–North Atlantic climate system to understand how changes in the ocean, atmosphere and sea ice will affect the UK. The project is led by the National Centre for Atmospheric Science, in collaboration with several other NERC research centres:
- British Antarctic Survey
- BGS
- Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling
- National Centre for Earth Observation
- National Oceanography Centre
- UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology
The Met Office is a project partner.
CANARI will advance our understanding of the impacts on the UK arising from climate variability and change in the Arctic-North Atlantic region, with a focus on extreme weather and the potential for rapid, disruptive change.
