Biography

  •  I have over 20 years research experience of various aspects of the geochemistry of fluid-rock interactions. This includes extensive experience designing, constructing, operating and interpreting experimental investigations into fluid-rock interactions over a wide range of temperatures and pressures, and in the management of the work programmes.

Research interests

  •  Gas hydrates: their relationships with sediments and porewater, and their mechanism of breakdown.
  •  Geochemical impacts of supercritical CO2 and CO2-rich fluids on host rocks, caprocks and borehole infrastructure under deep basinal conditions.
  •  Laboratory experimentation at elevated pressures and temperatures.
  •  Mechanisms of reaction of highly alkaline fluids with rocks surrounding potential cement-based radioactive waste repositories.
