Call for new members and Chair to join the NERC facilities steering committees
New members are needed to join the committees over the next four years.
18/02/2025 By BGS Press
The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) underpins its commitment to excellence in environmental research with the provision of access to high quality facilities. BGS manages a subset of the NERC facilities on behalf of NERC and relies on advice from the science community to manage and govern the facilities and ensure that they support high-quality science.
We are looking for new members to join NERC’s facilities steering committees over the next four years. The four facilities within this call are:
- Geophysical Equipment Facility (GEF)
- Ion Microprobe Facility (IMF)
- National Environmental Isotope Facility (NEIF)
- NERC Environmental Omics Facility (NEOF)
GEF is particularly interested in recruiting new committee members in the following areas:
- electromagnetics
- a technological expert in the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)
- seismology
- terrestrial laser scanners
NEOF are particularly interested in recruiting new Committee members in the following areas:
- proteomics and metabolomics
- population genomics
- plant population genomics or plant metagenomics
NERC is also looking to recruit a new Chair for NEIF Panel A (Radiocarbon), to be appointed in 2025. We welcome applications from all qualified applicants, but applications are particularly encouraged from traditionally under-represented groups in STEM.
Expressions of interest must be submitted by the deadline of 17:00 on 14 March 2025.
