Jack studied at the University of Manchester. His dissertation thesis titled ‘The sedimentary architecture of the Kinder Scout palaeodelta, a fluviodeltaic succession of the Namurian Pennine Basin’ received the 2023 BSRG Undergraduate Sedimentology Award. Some findings of this work were presented at the 2024 BSRG AGM in a talk titled ‘Mechanisms of mouth bar growth and progradation in deltas building into “deep” water’. At BGS he has worked on clastic sedimentology and the mapping of Quaternary deposits.
