- Dealing with the rapid rise on real-time or near real time geological/geoscience data from sensors and data streams
- Corporate Data Management and preservation strategy and associated business informatics systems
- Data Management principles and guidance (active data management planning)
- Data analysis and mining the legacy of long-tail geoscience data for future scientific work (“data driven discovery”)
- Delivery and interoperability of data assets (data warehouse-query layers, linked data, semantics – classifications/ontologies, schemas and standards)
- Digital object or persistent identifiers their use in science and data publishing
- NERC funded science: long-term data management of valuable data assets underpinning science record and for future re-use
- Providing a fit-for-purpose data ingestion workflow/system to separate out levels of data ingestion depending upon funding model, strategic priorities or needs

- Collaboration upon European Horizon 2020 programmes (ENVRI+, EVEREST, EPOS, ODIP2)
- Common ingestion processes and data donation portals, seeking efficiency for digital data ingestion with appropriate terms and conditions
- Providing a fit-for-purpose data ingestion workflow/system to separate out levels of data ingestion depending upon funding model, strategic priorities or needs
