Mining hazard (not including coal) coverage – information note

The BGS Mining Hazard (not including coal) GB dataset summarises the location and extent with an indication of the level of hazard associated with former and present underground mine workings. It draws together a diverse range of material derived from BGS geological mapping, which constrains distribution, supplemented mine abandonment plans, BGS databases of known working locations, mining literature reviews and expert knowledge to assemble, interpret and organise the information.
