Lithological Description: Gravel-dominated sequences forming mountain front alluvial fans, commonly cryoturbated.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Generally alluvial fan gravels of the Ballaugh Formation unconformably overlie mixed sequence of the Orrisdale Formation [qv] (though some fan gravels interdigitate with deposits of the Orrisdale Formation). In other exposures the fan gravels overlie Lateglacial organic sediments of the Glen Balleira Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Usually the ground surface.
Thickness: Unrecorded but diagrams suggest >20m thick locally.
Geographical Limits: Northern part of the Isle of Man (50k sheets 36 and possibly 46).
