Definition of Lower Boundary: Unconformably overlying Lewisian Gneiss or (locally) Stoer Group.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Inferred to be uncomformably overlain by the Loch Ness Supergroup. In practice, uncomformably overlain by Cambrian Ardvreck Group (west of the Moine Thrust) or cut by the Sgurr Beag Thrust (east of the Moine Thrust).
Thickness: Greater than 6 km possibly, possibly as much as 9 km.
Geographical Limits: Northern Highlands from Iona to Sutherland; Shetland.
