Lithological Description: Marine clays with thin sandy laminae passing gradationally upwards to sand with thin clay laminae (shallowing upwards), characterised by strong, continuous, sub-parallel reflectors in seismic profiles.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Unconformably overlies gently-folded and faulted Palaeogene or older sediments, unconformably overlies Red Crag Formation in southwest quadrant of Flemish Bight.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Unconformably overlain by Lower, Middle and Upper Pleistocene formations, and by Holocene sediments in the southwest.
Thickness: 20 - 75 metres. (45 metres in 81/50A).
Geographical Limits: Not defined.
