Lithological Description: Garnet-muscovite-biotite bearing, schistose pelite and semipelite, interbanded with psammitic units.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Overlies the Glascarnoch Psammite Formation at its eastern margin, where predominantly psammitic lithologies pass gradationally into predominantly pelitic lithologies.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Overlain by the Crom Psammite Formation at its western maargin, where predominantly pelitic lithiloigies pass gradationally into predominantly psammitic lithologies.
Thickness: Not recorded.
Geographical Limits: The outcrop runs approximately north to south, continuing north from the western end of Loch Luichart (NH320860) through the south-eastern end of Loch Glascarnoch (NH320720), through Strathvaich Forest to the western end of Gleann Beag (NH300840). It then swings round to the east, forming a large outcrop in the northern part of Freevater Forest (NH350930), before the outcrop thins and swings to the south-east, terminating against a fault in Freevater Forest at (NH455883). To the southern end of Loch Luichart the outcrop runs south-west and thins out near Carn na Feith rabhain (NH225580)
