Lithological Description: Bedded green mudstones, sandstones and siltstones, but with some units of unbedded grey silty mudstone.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Conformably overlies the Lady Burn Formation. Taken at the change from the massive, nodular pale grey largely unbedded silty mudstones of the Lady Burn Formation into the bedded green mudstone, sandstone and siltstone of the South Threave Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Conformably overlain by the High Mains Formation. The boundary is taken at the change from bedded greyish-green muddy siltstone of the Waterfall Member of the South Threave Formation into the fine- to medium-grained grey sandstone of the High Mains Sandstone.
Thickness: 60m
Geographical Limits: Craighead Inlier, Girvan, southwest Scotland.
