Lithological Description: Semipelitic mica-schist, usually grey or olive, knotted in parts, commonly staurolite bearing.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Unknown - lozenge-shaped outcrop between two major faults of the Portsoy Lineament.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Unknown - lozenge-shaped outcrop between two major faults of the Portsoy Lineament.
Thickness: Up to 900m (based on maximum observed outcrop width with no allowance for probable folding and other tectonic thickening or thinning).
Geographical Limits: NNW/SSE-trending outcrop, to 1.25km wide, from Allt na Craoibhe-caorainn [NJ 321 257] to Leadensider Burn [NJ 343 197]. Blackwater - Glenbuchat area, Moray and Gordon Districts. Sheet 75E.
