Lithological Description: Reddish-brown, greyish-brown, medium-grained, slightly micaceous sandstones, in beds 0.5 to 1.2m thick; large-scale cross-bedding. Shaly intraclasts occur. Soft, red and friable with reduction spots at top.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Upper surface of uppermost bed of conglomerate in the Hareshaw Conglomerate.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Lower surface of lowest bed of conglomerate in the overlying Greywacke Conglomerate.
Thickness: 450m
Geographical Limits: Lower Palaeozoic Inlier of the Hagshaw Hill, Scotland. (50k sheets 23W, 23E and 15W).
