Lithological Description: Pink weathered rhyolitic, lava-like, welded tuff.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Base of rhyolitic, lava-like, welded tuff overlies parallel bedded, andesitic tuff (Whorneyside Tuff Formation). Essentially conformable but with angular discordances where the andesitic tuffs are slumped.
Definition of Upper Boundary: At base of overlying main part of the Long Top Tuff Member: rhyolitic tuff and lapilli-tuff that is of lower-grade (less densely welded).
Thickness: 0-100m
Geographical Limits: Oxendale, Great Langdale and Coniston Fells, Cumbria.
Parent Unit: Long Top Tuff Member (LTT)
