Lithological Description: Mugearite and basalt lavas. The initial work on this formation strongly implied that tholeiitic (sub-alkali) basalt dyke intrusion immediately post-dated the extrusive phase.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Overlies the Bracadale Formation and older lavas of the Skye Lava Group. Sporadic plant beds or plant fragments are locally present at the base of the unit.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Uppermost lava flow. Overlain by superficial deposits or landslide material.
Thickness: To 500m
Geographical Limits: Northern Skye.
