Lithological Description: Orange-brown, fine- to coarse-grained sandstone, locally pebbly, with subordinate mudstones.
Definition of Lower Boundary: The lower boundary is taken at the base of sandstone, resting unconformably on, and overstepping, limestone (Jackie Parr Limestone Formation), and mudstone and sandstone (Silurian and Cambrian strata).
Definition of Upper Boundary: The upper boundary is taken at the base of calcreted limestones of the overlying Sylvan Limestone Formation.
Thickness: c.20 to 37m in the Lilleshall [SJ7315] and Coalbrookdale [SJ6408] areas.
Geographical Limits: Coalbrookdale [SJ 64083]; Lilleshall [SJ 7315].
