Lithological Description: Coarse-grained, cross-bedded, gritty sandstone.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Lower boundary taken where sandstone of Lane Foot Sandstone lies with a sharp base upon mudstone and siltstone of the Kirkbeck Member.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Upper boundary taken where sandstone of the Lane Foot Sandstone has a sharp top, overlain by fissile, dark grey micaceous siltstone of the Kirkbeck Member.
Thickness: Up to 55 m (in Bentham Station Borehole SD66NE/1); generally less than 10 m.
Geographical Limits: Known from the Bentham area, Lancashire. Not mapped east or south of SD66NE.
