Lithological Description: Metasandstone, pale to medium grey, and slaty metasiltstone, green-grey, rhythmically interbedded and interlaminated. Thin calcareous lenses and pelite beds.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Outgoing of coarse clean, thick-bedded arenites and the incoming of finer-grained sandstones and siltstones.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Incoming of coarser-grained arenites and wackes.
Thickness: c.1500m in the type section at Ledard Burn.
Geographical Limits: Currently only defined between Loch Drunkie, Achray Forest, and ground around and to the west of Ledard Burn on Sheet 38E.
