Sand, gravel and diamicton (till) of lithologies derived from the north of the Isle of Man (Chadwick et al., 2001). |
Definition of Lower Boundary: |
Unconformably overlies a bedrock platform at between 41 and 53 m below OD and partly overlies the Ayre Formation. At the type section of the Kiondroughad Formation, it overlies coarse grained gravel and clay of the Ayre Formation. |
Definition of Upper Boundary: |
Base of the Shellag Formation. At the type section of the Kiondroughad Formation, the base of the Shellag Formation comprises a clayey diamicton with cobbles. |
Thickness: |
About 60 m at its type section. |
