Drawn at base of Tintern Sandstone Group where it rests conformably on quartz conglomerate of the Quartz Conglomerate Group. (Correlative of Tintern Sandstone Group and Quartz Conglomerate Group- Portishead Beds). 
Definition of Upper Boundary:
Drawn at conformable upward passage from buff-yellow sandstone of Tintern Sandstone Group to limestone of Lower Limestone Shale Group. 
Thickness:
Up to 75m approx. 
Geographical Limits:
Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.
