Author statement Based on original one-inch geological survey published on Old Series Sheets 14, 15, 18 and 19 in 1857-75, and six-inch surveys by A.J. Jukes-Browne, F.J. Bennett and C. Reid (eastern margin) in 18901900 and F.B.A. Welch and D.R.A. Ponsford (northern margin) in 1954-7, all of the Geological Survey; and by B.H. Mottram (country bordering the Mere Fault between Wincanton and East Knoyle) in 1951-4, and M.R. House (country bordering the fault west of Wanstrow) in 1954-6. Compiled by E.A. Edmonds in 1966. G.
