Source: BGS \u00a9 UKRI&lt;\/p&gt;\n\" data-gallery=\"gallery_83516\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/bgs\/img\/expand.svg\" alt=\"Expand icon\"><\/a><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>Primarily through the in-kind support of its partners, and in response to consultation with UK Governments and the responder community, the NHP has coordinated a range of natural hazard related activities with particular highlights and achievements as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#assessment\">NHP Daily Hazard Assessment<\/a> accessible through Met Office Hazard Manager and Cabinet Office Resilience Direct platforms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development of the NHP <a href=\"#HIF\">Hazard Impact Framework<\/a> (HIF) to support greater consistency of hazard impact assessments <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Delivery of prototype <a href=\"#HIM\">Hazard Impact Models<\/a> (HIM) for four natural hazards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provision of expert advice, review and challenge of UK Governments\u2019 <a href=\"#NRA\">natural hazard risk assessment<\/a> processes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"assessment\">Daily Hazard Assessment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The DHA is an \u2018at a glance\u2019 overview of potential natural hazards and health implications that could affect the UK over the next 5 days. It provides a hazards summary to help increase UK\u2019s ability to respond to, and be prepared for multi-hazard events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>21 natural hazards are included in the Daily Hazard Assessment, they are all assessed and the relevant Colour State determined using a Hazard Matrix. Specifically, the Hazard Impact Framework is a source of definitions and common concepts in impact modelling. It provides standard guidelines and, where necessary, stricter protocols for developing <a href=\"#HIM\">Hazard Impact Models<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"HIM\">Hazard Impact Models<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Hazard Impact Models (HIMs), are designed to produce impact and risk information for individual natural hazards. Most Hazard Impact Models are composed of three main elements: Hazard, Vulnerability and Exposure. HIMs combine data and expertise from partners to identify areas and assets which are most vulnerable to a particular hazard. HIMs currently in development include Landslides, Snow and Ice, Surface Water Flooding and Wind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"NRA\">National Risk Assessment (NRA)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Natural Hazards Partnership (NHP) plays a key role in UK risk assessment. It provides expertise and advice, coordinates its internal partners and delivers independent reviews regarding natural hazards for the UK\u2019s National Risk Assessment (NRA) and National Security Risk Assessment (NSRA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Natural Hazards Partnership\u2019s particular support to the NRA includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Identification of potential natural hazards for inclusion and assessment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordination of our constituent organisations and agencies to support lead government departments in developing robust \u2018reasonable worst case scenarios\u2019 for natural hazards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provision of expertise to deliver an independent review function for natural hazard risks within the NRA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Geohazard notes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to the work of the Natural Hazards Partnership, the BGS has prepared a number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/geology-projects\/natural-hazards-partnership\/geohazard-notes\/\">Geohazard notes<\/a> to provide relevant summary information for some of the geohazards that could affect the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/geology-projects\/natural-hazards-partnership\/geohazard-notes\/\">Geohazard notes<\/a> provide information on how and why the hazard occurs, how it is measured, locations susceptible to the hazard and possible worst case scenarios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The notes also give details on how the BGS and collaborating organisations respond to such hazards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"collaborators\">NHP partners and collaborators<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Natural Hazards Partnership (NHP) consists of the following
