This was starkly demonstrated by the winter storms of 2013\u201314, which resulted in widespread damage to infrastructure, such as the mainline railway at Dawlish in Devon and undermining of properties along the Norfolk coast at Hemsby. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With climate change forecasts of an increase in the frequency and intensity of winter storms, BGS has released its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/datasets\/geocoast-premium\/\">GeoCoast data product<\/a>, drawing on existing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/datasets\/coastal-vulnerability\/\">BGS datasets<\/a> and expertise and working in collaboration with other organisations to help manage these changes in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure  class=\"img-wrap\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/jurassic-coast-1406284_1920_pixabay-150x150.jpg\" class=\"lazy-blur\" alt=\"Jurassic Coast, Dorset. This allows users to interpret potential interdependencies in terms of erosion, flooding, habitat and other vulnerabilities. GeoCoast represents the natural geological coastline as if no coastal defences or made ground are present.
