This partnership reflects and builds on the two organisations\u2019 shared history and sets out a roadmap for working collaboratively to deliver our joint ambitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The partnership focuses on six strategic areas of shared interest:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>research<\/li><li>collections<\/li><li>digital and data resources<\/li><li>provision of space and infrastructure<\/li><li>public engagement and citizen science<\/li><li>higher education and training<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Earth science knowledge and expertise is core to addressing many of the most pressing issues facing society in the 21st century, from the decarbonisation of energy supplies to climate change mitigation.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure  class=\"img-wrap\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/NHM_zoom_web-1400x857.jpg\" data-toggle=\"lightbox\" data-footer=\"&lt;p&gt;Dr Doug Gurr, Natural History Museum Director, and Dr Karen Hangh\u00f8j, BGS Director, signing the Memorandum of Understanding.
