Informed by current international best-practice for raw material criticality assessment, this report presents a thorough review of the indicators used in the \u2018UK criticality assessment of technology critical minerals and metals\u2019 which was published by BGS in 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originating from the UK Critical Mineral Intelligence Centre (CMIC) which is hosted by BGS, the report describes where these indicators have been modified as a result of the review. This includes the introduction of new data sets, as well as implementation of methodological improvements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The list of candidate materials to be considered in the next criticality assessment will grow from 26 to 82. This revised methodology will be used as the basis for the next UK criticality assessment which will be carried out by CMIC in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n
