Seabed sampling is conducted on an approximately 5&nbsp;km grid with at least one sample being taken in each major textural area identified. All samples are retained and forwarded to the BGS.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure  class=\"img-wrap\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/MCA_HI1435_010-150x150.jpg\" class=\"lazy-blur\" alt=\"MCA_HI1435_010\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/MCA_HI1435_010-960x588.jpg\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>Information on the samples is logged in H575 sample forms using the Nautical Classification and Folk Classification schemes. This information goes into the production of nautical charts at the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/uk-hydrographic-office\" target=\"_blank\">United Kingdom Hydrographic Office<\/a>&nbsp;(UKHO). The H575 forms are also sent to the BGS and archived in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/data\/national-geoscience-data-centre\/\">National Geoscience Data Centre<\/a>&nbsp;(NGDC) and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/geological-data\/national-geoscience-data-centre\/ngdc-data-management\/medin-data-archive-centre\/\">MEDIN Data Archive Centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 are available from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/map-viewers\/geoindex-offshore\/\">offshore GeoIndex<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Multibeam bathymetry data is available from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/inspire-portal-and-medin-bathymetry-data-archive-centre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ADMIRALTY Marine Data
