Information was collected for the BGS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/geology-projects\/landslides\/national-landslide-database\/\">National Landslide Database<\/a> and geological maps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the landslides did not encroach on the road surface, the A59 was closed between Blubberhouses and Raven\u2019s Peak while remediation work took place. <\/p>\n\n\n\t\t\t\t<div  class=\"owl-carousel carousel-primary-color carousel owl-theme thumbs-carousel-js\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"item\"><figure  class=\"img-wrap\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/blubberhouses_location_topography.jpg\" data-toggle=\"lightbox\" data-footer=\"&lt;p&gt;Approximate locations of the Blubberhouses landslides. Although no superficial deposits are mapped at this site it is likely that the landslide involved colluvium and weathered bedrock. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The landslides<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Blubberhouses 1 landslide has the characteristics of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/discovering-geology\/earth-hazards\/landslides\/how-to-classify-a-landslide\/\">flow<\/a>. A spring 20&nbsp;m up the slope is likely to have contributed to the instability at this site. The failed material had been removed when the visit took place but the area that had failed was clearly visible.
