The data is used for a range of purposes, including the creation of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/geology-projects\/product-development\/\">BGS products<\/a>&nbsp;such as the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/geological-data\/datasets\/?tax_topic=marine-geoscience&amp;tax_purpose=all&amp;tax_area=all&amp;sterm=&amp;order=asc\">marine geoscience and seabed geology datasets<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Data is freely available online (where possible) under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/geological-data\/opengeoscience\/\">OpenGeoscience<\/a>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalarchives.gov.uk\/doc\/open-government-licence\/version\/3\/\" target=\"_blank\">Open Government Licence<\/a>. However, some data are not yet processed for online delivery and in these cases there may be a charge to cover data preparation. You can also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/geological-data\/national-geoscience-data-centre\/ngdc-data-management\/medin-data-archive-centre\/\">deposit data<\/a> with We are partners in:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.emodnet-bathymetry.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EMODnet Bathymetry<\/a> high-resolution seabed mapping (HRSM) project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.emodnet-ingestion.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EMODnet ingestion<\/a> project, aiming to streamline the data ingestion process and connect marine data holders not yet connected to existing infrastructures. Deposit data via the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.emodnet-ingestion.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EMODnet ingestion portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.europe-geology.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EGDI<\/a> is the&nbsp;EuroGeoSurveys&#8217; European Geological Data Infrastructure. It provides access to pan-European and national geological datasets and services from the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eurogeosurveys.org\/about-us\/map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Geological Surveys of Europe<\/a>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The BGS is the co-ordinator of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecord.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling<\/a>&nbsp;(ECORD) Science Operator (ESO) consortium that implements&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecord.org\/expeditions\/msp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mission-specific platform<\/a>&nbsp;(MSP) expeditions on behalf of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/iodp3.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">International Ocean Drilling Program<\/a>&nbsp;(IODP<sup>3<\/sup>).&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecord.org\/resources\/databases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Access data<\/a>&nbsp;from previous expeditions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.geo-seas.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Geo-Seas<\/a> was an EU FP7 project to expand the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seadatanet.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SeaDataNet<\/a>&nbsp;infrastructure to marine geological and geophysical data.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.onegeology.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OneGeology<\/a> is an international initiative of the geological surveys of the world to &#8216;make web-accessible the best available geological map data worldwide at a scale of about 1: 1 million&#8217;. The results can be seen on the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/portal.onegeology.org\/OnegeologyGlobal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OneGeology portal<\/a>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgs.ac.uk\/geological-data\/national-geoscience-data-centre\/national-hydrocarbons-data-archive\/\">National Hydrocarbons Data Archive<\/a> (NHDA) is a long\u2013term data archive of geoscientific legacy data resulting from UK offshore oil and gas exploration and production activity.
