Definition of Lower Boundary: Disconformity at base of Nairn Sandstone on Inverness Sandstone Group beds. Base is transgressive onto metamorphic basement.
Definition of Upper Boundary: At the change in facies from red beds to marine sedimentary rocks.
Thickness: About 1000 m thick.
Geographical Limits: Ardersier to Spey Bay (near Buckie)
Parent Unit: Old Red Sandstone Supergroup (ORS)
