Lithological Description: A sequence of greyish-green fine- to medium-grained sandstones and mudstones on the east brow of Quarrel Hill.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Succeeds coarse green sandstone and conglomerate of the Escarpment Member of the Auldthorns Formation. Distinguished from the Escarpment Member by having almost no conglomerate and a large number of mudstone units.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Succeeded by green and purple mudstone of the Quarrel Hill Formation.
Thickness: c.30m (estimate).
Geographical Limits: Girvan area, southwest Scotland.
Parent Unit: Auldthorns Formation (AUT)
