Lithological Description: Clast supported conglomerate; rounded pebbles, cobbles and boulders in a matrix of coarse sand. Subordinate beds of coarse sandstone and pebbly sandstone.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Faulted against sandstones of the Inverness Sandstone Group.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Conformable with overlying sandstones of the Inverness Sandstone Group.
Thickness: The maximum thickness of the unit is estimated to be 550m.
Geographical Limits: The unit underlies a ridge of high ground that runs north-east from Dunain Hill to the western edge of the city of Inverness near South Kessock.
