Lithological Description: Fine-to medium-grained sand with stringers of granule gravel and channels containing clast-supported gravel. The gravel comprises subangular to subrounded clasts of Skiddaw Group sandstones and siltstones, red and yellow sandstone, Borrowdale Volcanic Group rocks, granite, granophyre, coal and ironstone.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Generally undulating erosional contact on to Drigg Beach Till Member of the Gosforth Glacigenic Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Sub horizontal planar unconformable (?locally glacitectonic) contact with the the base of the Fishgarth Wood Till Member of the Gosforth Glacigenic Formation.
Thickness: c. 2.5m - 3.5m
Geographical Limits: 1:50k Sheet 37 Gosforth. Seascale, Ravenglass and Lower Wasdale areas, Western Cumbria.
