Lithological Description: Laminated grey, micaceous sandy siltstones with sparse marine fauna.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Boundary not exposed but believed to be sharp where predominantly siltstone strata overlie predominantly sandstone beds at the top of the Nottage Crag Grit (where this is present) within c.1m of strata.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Conformable base of Moorcock Sandstones: interbedded fine-grained sandstone and siltstone resting upon the laminated siltstones of the Claughton Moor siltstones.
Thickness: c.24m
Geographical Limits: Lancaster Fells.
