Lithological Description: Conglomerate, with rounded quartzite cobbles, reddened on the outside, set in a silty, or in places calcareous, matrix.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Unconformity on Dalradian metasediments and Caledonian plutonic rocks.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Transition from conglomerate to shale.
Thickness: Approx. 10 metres in type section, probably increasing southwards to 15 - 20 metres on Glaschul Hill (NJ 458 149).
Geographical Limits: Not defined.
