Lithological Description: Olive-green and grey calcareous mudstone and nodular to lenticular calcareous mudstone and argillaceous limestone; shell fragments present throughout.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Base of the first grey-green, rubbly mudstones containing comminuted shell debris above mottled green, grey and purple mudstones of Rubery Formation. 1m thick transition in colour and upward decrease in number of hard siltstone beds.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Gradational increase in thickness and number of limestone beds into overlying Barr Limestone Formation.
Thickness: 22-40m. Walsall 22m; Wenlock Edge 25.5-40m
Geographical Limits: West Midlands, Welsh Borders.
