Lithological Description: Alternating flows of alkali basalt with hawaiite and mugearite, showing eruptive alternation between unevolved and evolved lavas respectively. The evolved lava flows are commonly composite with the upper flow margins being strongly plagioclase-phyric.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Overlies the Rasmasaig and Beinn Edra formations in northern Skye.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Overlain by the Bracadale Formation.
Thickness: To 600m
Geographical Limits: Northern Skye.
