Lithological Description: Dull red or purple, fine- to very coarse-grained sandstones characterised by the presence of siliceous pebbles, which also form conglomeratic bands.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Unconformable on the Ochil Volcanic Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Drawn at the conformable upward passage from red or purple, pebbly sandstones of the Burnside Formation, to the brown, yellow, red, purple or cream sandstones of the Glenvale Formation.
Thickness: Up to 160 m thick, in the Lomond Hills area.
Geographical Limits: Sheets 40, 48, 49, Fife-Kinross-Leuchars.
