Lithological Description: Diamicton, clayey and sandy, typically reddish brown to moderate brown, with clasts of Orcadian Devonian sandstones, conglomerates, siltstones and mudstones, some Caledonian igneous and Moine metamorphic rocks.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Unconformable on bedrock.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Holocene strata.
Thickness: Up to 10 m thick.
Geographical Limits: Caithness and Sutherland, mainly east of a line between Reay and Berridale (1:50 000 sheets 115 E and W, and sheet 110).
