Lithological Description: Planar thin-bedded to ripple-cross laminated volcaniclastic siltstone and fine-grained volcaniclastic sandstone; some intercalated coarse-grained volcaniclastic sandstone containing elongate pumice fragments.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Taken at the base of well bedded volcaniclastic rocks generally overlying the Pavey Ark Breccia Member, but in places overlapping the Scafell Dacite and volcaniclastic breccia of the Cam Crags Member
Definition of Upper Boundary: Defined by the base of overlying volcaniclastic rocks of the Cockley Pike Member
Thickness: Up to 120m
Geographical Limits: From Thirlmere to Scafell and the Langdale Pikes, Lake District, Cumbria
Parent Unit: Seathwaite Fell Sandstone Formation (SET)
