Lithological Description: Rhythmically laminated silt and clay [Whinneyhill Coppice Clay Member], overlain by pebbly silty clay diamicton and sand [Green Croft Till Member], overlain by laminated clay and silt [Holmeside Clay Member], overlain by coarsening-upwards sequences of sand and gravel [Mainsgate Wood Sand and Gravel Member].
Definition of Lower Boundary: Sharp, undulating, unconformable contact with pale red stony clay diamicton and cobble gravel of the HolmrookTill Member of the Blengdale Glacigenic Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Either not overlain, or partially overlain by Flandrian peat or alluvial deposits.
Thickness: To 60m
Geographical Limits: Lower Wasdale, West Cumbria, inland of the limit of ice of the Irish Sea Ice Stream during the "Gosforth Oscillation"
