Horizon scanning
Horizon scanning is a key tool in futures thinking that assists:
- Reviewing a broad spectrum of information, beyond usual timescales and sources. Use reading material and other media as sources of insights for the group.
- Drawing insights from participants
- Identifying future challenges and trends
This approach works well with a large groups of participants — and more participants encourage greater diversity. It does, however, rely on Initial identification the topic(s) and question to address, and what criteria are important.
