Biography

  •  1990 – ongoing : NERC Isotope Geosciences Laboratory: U-Th and U-Pb geochronology research scientist, TIMS laboratory and U-Th facility manager, established U-Pb facility 1990-1996.
  •  1988 –1990 : U–Pb geochronologist, Jack Satterly Geochronology Laboratory, University of Toronto

Research interests

  • High precision U–Th–Pb (Neoproterozoic life, Highlands and Himalayan geology, meteorites).
  • Mass spectrometry.
  • U-series geochronology (carbonates).

Skills

  • High precision TIMS and MC-ICP-MS mass spectrometry.
  • Isotope geochemistry (U–Pb, U–Th, Pb–Nd–Hf isotopes).

  •  2011 –2014 : NERC Standard grant: Co-I, Sharpening the U-Th chronometer through technical developments and community implementation (NE/I013814/1) with Dr. D Condon (PI, NIGL), Prof G Henderson (PI, Oxford) and Dr D Richards (PI, Bristol).
