  •  1992 –2003 :  Hydrogeologist/Hydrochemist working on mine and radioactive waste contamination issues, and small island rural water supplies (on secondment to Vanuatu Geological Survey)
  •  1992 :  MSc University of Birmingham, Hydrogeology (CL Associates Prize)
  •  1978 –2007 :  Geoscientist with international experience of regional mapping and mineral exploration projects (in Bolivia, Peru, Egypt, Solomon Islands, Morocco, Mauritania, Madagascar)
  •  1977 :  MSc University of Leicester, Mineral Exploration
  •  1976 :  BSc Imperial College (University of London), Geology (Governors Prize)
